Imagining Marilyn Monroe: A Reading of Female Body in The Deer Park

本文从身体研究的角度,考察小说中的女明星露露·梅厄丝与梦露相契合的地方。作为性感象征,两者都以物化身体的形式存在于男权社会,并且都离不开权力对身体的塑造;另外,当身体成为一种标签,都会直接介入身份认同的建构过程中。当然,本文的目的还不止于此,而是试图更进一步揭示小说中展现的女性个体生存的艰难。

The problem about how the legendary figure Marilyn Monroe was projected upon the movie star Meyers Lulu,however,is still not to be seriously studied. The article thinks that to be a sex symbol,the two figures exist in the form of material body in patriarchal society,and are inseparable from the power making the body,and that when body is labeled,it will directly involve in the process of construction of self-identification. The article,is not merely limited to explore these findings,but further reveals the difficult survival for the female individuals in the novel.
