Analysis of Turn Order and Semantic Model of New Media Online Chat Discourse

网聊是随着互联网产生和发展而形成的一种新的语体,本研究基于新媒体网络聊天语料,探讨了网络聊天和传统面对面聊天的异同点及网聊话轮的本质特征。研究发现,由于网络聊天兼具书面语和口语的特点,网络聊天与传统面对面聊天的相同之处在于都是以发话者一次的内容为一个基本话轮,不同之处是网聊话轮无重叠、无体态语、无沉默话轮等等现象。文章重点探讨了网聊的话轮秩序现象、网聊话轮的语义模式、网聊话轮的小句分布等反映网聊话语特点的问题,指出作为一种新媒体表现形式,网聊话轮并非遵循面对面自然话轮间一问一答的"毗邻对"模式,而是多种形式并存的新媒体话语话轮模式。

The concept of turn-taking,first proposed by Sacks et al. in 1974,refers to the linguistic phenomenon of two or more people taking turns to speak or someone interrupting in the middle of a conversation. A number of previous researchesare aboutthe structural model and linguistic features of turn-taking. Online chat has become a new linguistic style with the emergence and development of the Internet. Based on the corpus of new media online chat,this paper explores the similarities and differences between online chat and traditional face-to-face conversation,as well as the essential characteristics of online chat turns. It is found that the similarity between online chat and traditional face-to-face conversation is that the content of the speaker is the basic turn. The reason is that online chat has the characteristics of both written and spoken language. The differences are that there is no overlap,no body language and no silent turnsin online chat. This article focuses on the features of "order",semantic model and distribution of clauses of online chat turn. It points out that,as a new form of expression,online chat turn does not follow the "adjacent pair"model of the face-to-face turn which features in"one-question-and-answer",but reveals the characteristics of new media discourse turn model combining different forms of expressions.
