基于开源软件的图书馆电子书平台构建——上海图书馆的实践

Building Library E-book Platform with Open Source Software:A Practice of Shanghai Library

上海图书馆在提供电子书服务时探索了诸多模式,包括电子书阅读器外借、构建元数据整合的阅读平台、开发阅读App和配套的数字阅读硬件产品等。但始终无法有效解决内容质量、版权和用户体验的问题。目前,通过自主采购和加工EPUB格式电子书并利用开源软件构建上海图书馆自己的电子书平台成为进一步提升上海图书馆数字阅读服务水准的一次新尝试。本文主要介绍了该平台的主要架构、功能模块和相关设计理念。

Shanghai Library has explored many ways in providing e-book services, such as e-book reader lending, building a reading platform with metadata integration, and developing reading app and related digital reading hardware. These, however, cannot effectively address the issues of poor content quality,copyright infringement and less desirable user experience. And now there is a new attempt to enhance the digital reading experience on the part of Shanghai Library by purchasing and processing EPUB format e-books independently and using open source software to build its own e-book platform. This paper mainly introduces the main structure, function modules and related design concepts of the platform.
