Interpretation About the 蔑

殷墟甲骨中有关于“蔑”的若干卜辞,对该字的考释历来颇多争论。早期其字形的某些部分或从“人”、从“戈”、从“女”、从“■”,相配使用。第一期之后其字数量不多,可见形体似渐趋稳定,在商周之际及西周的金文中有不同的用法与含义。该字在商代卜辞作先臣名、微茫小雨、攻灭击杀使用,商周金文中则与“历”字相配,表懋勉嘉美之义,为铭文常用语。

There are some inscriptions about蔑in the bones of Yin ruins,and much debates about the interpretation of this word.Some parts of its early glyphs matched"人""戈""女""■"up separately.The first phase of the Yin ruins,the number of words is small,and the shape seems to be gradually stabilized.It has different uses and meaning at the turn of the Shang-Zhou dynasties.This word in the Shang oracle inscriptions is used as the name of the first minister,indistinct rain,attack and annihilation;and is often used with another word历to express encouragement as common language in the bronze inscriptions.
