The use of "oru·~ teoru" among type II self-deprecation words of the special honorific verbs is close to half. At the same time, Japanese learners in China believe that the most difficult and error-prone word in type II self-deprecation words is "oru·~ teoru". In 2007, the Japanese Culture Review Council introduced the "Guidelines for Honorific Words" and explicitly proposed "oru·~ teoru" as one of type II self-deprecation words of the special honorific verbs, which shows the necessity and importance of studying "oru·~ teoru". This study examines the Japanese honorifics"oru·~ teoru" in the Japanese TV drama, and clarifies its frequency of use, the object of use, the context of use, as well as related collocation verbs. Based on this, two suggestions for Japanese language teaching in Chinese universities are proposed to improve students' understanding and application of "oru·~ teoru" and other honorific verbs.
