大连对于中国城市研究有着独特的意义。一方面,大连问题的背后是东北问题,而东北问题正是我国目前最突出的区域问题之一;另一方面,成立较久的大连金普新区又构成了观察中国新城发展的重要样本。这里所说的新城,是指在快速的现代化诉求与城市资源严重匮乏的矛盾中出现的人工城市。这种人工新城正在迅速地、大量地产生,并且为世界城市发展史增设了一个新的篇章。在新城研究中,研究方法的匮乏是我们首先要克服的难题。

The study of Dalian is of unique significance to that of Chinese cities. On the one hand, behind Dalian's Problem is the Northeast Problem, which is one of the most prominent Regional Problems in China. On the other hand, the longestablished Jinpu New Area in Dalian can be regarded as an important sample to observe the development of new cities in China. The so-called new city refers to the man-made city that appears in the contradiction between the demand of rapid modernization and the serious shortage of urban resources. Such man-made new city is emerging rapidly and in large numbers and adds a new chapter to the history of urban development. In the study of new cities, the lack of research methods is the primary problem to overcome in the study of new cities.
