蔡世远复性明善论及其对台影响

Cai Shiyuan's Nature Recovering Theory and Its Influence on the Society of Taiwan

蔡世远主张收心养气而明善复性。复性始于立志,莫要于主敬,又须致力于躬行。以此为基础,其将复性明善与为政治民相联系,指出治国治民应以修德为根基,修德与事功殊途而同归。其进而强调性命之学与事功均于民有利,二程、朱子之学乃是对实际政治大有裨益之学。其又通过一篇学记、二封书信及一篇赠序,将其复性与为政思想运用其中,影响台湾社会。

It took Cai Shiyuan a lot of space to explain the nature recovering theory. The theory included but not confined to mental concentration(收心) and yangqi(养气). He combined the nature recovering theory with the idea of governing by morality. Furthermore, he believed that philosophy of nature and life and feats were equally important to people.His thought also played great role in promoting social development of Taiwan.
