Survival Crisis and Self Redemption——The Tragedy of the Stepfather in The Stable in the Foggy Month

《雾月牛栏》讲述了主人公因失手打伤继子,造成其失去智力,于是开始了漫长的赎罪之路。本文借助西格蒙德·弗洛伊德的三重人格结构理论来解读小说中的人物——继父在进行自我救赎过程中悔恨、痛苦和焦灼的心境。通过对继父人格结构的分析,得出他的自我无法调和本我与超我之间的矛盾,人格结构长期处于严重失衡状态,最终走向死亡。

"The Stable in the Foggy Month" tells the story of the protagonist because of accidentally injured his stepson, resulting in his stepson loss of intelligence, so began a long road of atonement. With the help of Sigmund Freud's theory of triple personality structure, this paper interprets the characters in the novel -- the stepfather's remorse, pain and anxiety in the process of self-salvation. Through the analysis of the personality structure of him, it is concluded that the stepfather's ego can not reconcile the contradiction between the id and the superego, and his personality structure is in a serious imbalance for a long time, which eventually leads to his death.
