The Application of Semantic Prosody in Translation Criticism-The Case of the "早+Verb" Structure in A Dream in Red Mansions and Its English Translations

翻译批评是联系翻译理论与翻译实践的重要纽带。基于语料库计量分析的语义韵研究有助于探索原文的语用偏好、语言态度等语义因素在译文中的对等和偏离,从而脱离文本层为翻译批评提供了可计量化研究途径。本文讨论了语义韵在翻译批评中的适用性,并以《红楼梦》中“早+动词”结构在杨氏夫妇译本中的呈现为例,对语义韵研究在翻译批评中的应用进行了验证。

Translation criticism serves as the important belt between translation theory and translation practice. The development of corpus provides a measurable way for translation criticism. The corpus-based semantic prosody studies help to analyse the equivalenceand deviation of pragmatic preferences and language attitudes between the original and target text in quantitative methods. The present research analyses the application of semantic prosody research in translation criticism, and corpus-based investigates the semantic prosody of the "早+verb" structure in A Dream of Red Mansions and the corresponding translation in the version translated by Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang as a case.
