Proofreading Annotations Notes of Buddhist Stone Carvings in the Northern Dynasty

北朝佛教石刻释文错讹、阙漏较多,因不辨形近字、俗字、未识异体字、讹混字,不明文化词语,文字泐蚀模糊难辨,错误句读而误释。通过结合石刻拓片及相关文献资料,辨明字形,举证字例,纠正误释文字,补释缺文,分析误因,校正释文,以使这些宝贵的文献资料得到更科学有效的利用。

Buddhist stone carving annotations in the Northern Dynasty present many errors and omissions. They are misinterpreted because of indistinguishable words that are similar in their morphology, folk characters, unknown variant characters, mistaken characters, unclear cultural words, erosion and wrong punctuations. In virtue of stone carving rubbings and related literature data, this paper aims at identifying the fonts and giving examples, so as to correct misinterpreted words. In this connection, missing texts and poor interpretations can be emendated as showing its wrong causes, making better use of these valuable literature materials documents both scientifically and effectively.
