电影字幕中文化负载词的英译——电影《归来》个案研究

On the Translation of Chinese Culture-Loaded Words in Film Subtitles: A Case Study of Coming Home

电影是文化交流的桥梁,随着国产电影在海外上映,中国的文化也源源不断地传播到世界各地。国产电影中有很多文化负载词,反映了中国社会的方方面面,具有深厚的文化内涵。本文以张艺谋执导的电影《归来》中的字幕为研究语料,从苏珊·巴斯奈特文化翻译观的角度,以文化的准确传递为切入点,对电影字幕中文化负载词的英译进行了分析,指出该片字幕翻译中的佳译和不妥之处,并提出电影字幕中文化负载词的翻译策略。

Movies are a bridge for cultural exchanges. As Chinese films are released overseas, Chinese culture is also spreading to all parts of the world. There are many culture-loaded words in Chinese films, reflecting all aspects of Chinese society and having a profound cultural connotation. In this paper, the subtitles in the film Coming Home directed by Zhang Yimou are used as research corpus. From the perspective of Susan Bassnett's cultural translation theory, the accurate transmission of culture is taken as the starting point, and the translation of culture-loaded words in the subtitles is analyzed. The paper points out the good translation and inadequacy of the subtitle translation in this movie, and proposes the translation strategy of culture-loaded words in the subtitles of movies.
