The use of casing in natural gas pipeline engineering will increase the likelihood of corrosion of the outer surface of the core tube, and reduce the safety of the pipeline. This paper suggests reducing the use of the casing by minimizing the load acting above the pipe by deepening the depth of the pipe, while minimizing the pipe jacking process that must be used in the engineering design.
