Jane Eyre, written by Charlotte Bronte, has been regarded as the most popular English novel since its publication in 1847. However, the profound words, complex sentences, vivid characters and clever and compact plot in this novel also cause the complexity and difficulty of translation. Since Jane Eyre was first translated into Chinese in 1935, several versions have appeared in China, of which Zhu Qingying's version and Huang Yuanshen’s version are the best. This paper compares Zhu's version and Huang's version in terms of wording and phrasing, as well as loyalty to characters, environment and plot of the original novel.
