The Inheritance and Evolution of Design Aesthetics of the Traditional Travel Utensils in Jiangnan Area: A Case Study of Oilpaper Umbrella in Yuhang Area

余杭油纸伞是江南传统游具的代表,文章在分析研究其传统工艺和设计美学的基础上,探讨如何运用现代设计手段,对传统游具工艺、设计美学进行深层吸收、消化,形成现代设计美学元素,赋予其新的生命,为传统工艺美学的传承和流变提供新思路。

Yuhang oilpaper umbrella is the representative of traditional travel utensil in Jiangnan area. Based on the analyses of its traditional craft and design aesthetics, this paper discusses how to apply modern design methods to absorb and digest the traditional technology concerning the traditional travel utensils and design aesthetics. It thus offers new thinking modes for the inheritance and evolution of the aesthetics of the traditional arts and crafts by developing modern aesthetic elements and rendering it a new life.
