Research on Translation Strategy of O.Henry’s Short Story The Cop and the Anthem from Perspective of Reception Theory

接受理论认为翻译的最终目的是被读者接受,从而实现译文的价值,因此译者在翻译作品时必须考虑读者的审美、阅读习惯、表达习惯、生活经历等因素。欧·亨利的短篇小说《警察与赞美诗》深受中国读者喜爱,与其译文精湛的翻译技巧有着不可分割的关系。从接受理论视角解读其译文的词汇和修辞翻译策略。

Reception theory holds that the ultimate purpose of translation is to be accepted by readers so as to realize the value of the translation. Therefore, translators must consider the factors such as readers’ aesthetic taste, reading habits, expression habits and life experience during the process of translating. The popularity of O.Henry’s short story The Cop and the Anthem among Chinese readers is inseparable from the excellent translation skills of its translation. This paper analyzes its translation strategy in terms of vocabulary and rhetoric from the perspective of Reception Theory.
