Restoring the Sexual Color of Shakespeare’s Dramas:Taking Romeo and Juliet Translated by Fu Guangming as an Example

在中国莎士比亚翻译史中,傅光明先生的《新译莎士比亚全集》具有开创性意义。仅就《罗密欧与朱丽叶》这部译作为例,译者意识到“性”在莎剧中的重要作用,因此在翻译时将符合人物身份的语言之性色彩毫无保留地传递给中国读者,既塑造了人物形象,又突出了莎翁的语言艺术,达到了吸引读者的创作目的。傅译本对莎剧“性”的还原,必将改写中国莎士比亚翻译和接受的历史。

In the translation history of Shakespeare’s works in China,Fu Guangming’s Complete Works of Shakespeare Newly Translated is of pioneering significance.Taking the translation of Romeo and Juliet as an example,the translator realizes that sex plays an important role in Shakespeare’s plays.Therefore,when translating,the translator transfers the linguistic sexuality of the characters to the Chinese readers without reservation,which not only shapes the image of the characters,but also highlights the linguistic art of Shakespeare,and achieves the purpose of attracting the audience.The restoration of“sex”in Shakespeare’s plays in Fu’s translation will surely rewrite the history of translation and change the acceptance level of Shakespeare in China.
