《耶路撒冷》和《北上》是徐则臣历史写作的代表作。两部长篇小说在艺术形式上既写出了总体性历史的波澜壮阔,又书写了大历史褶皱中个人的人生经验。在思想层面上,徐则臣对考古学、历史学和文学的关系进行了深入思考,在小说中呈现了历史之物与当代人丰富的情感联系,展示了历史的有情面向。在文学的现实关怀层面上,它们都着力通过书写我们的历史,在文学世界中召唤出了一个想象的命运共同体,以此克服人在现实社会中的孤独状态。

"Jerusalem"and "Northward"are the masterpieces of Xu Zechen’s historical writing. In art form,the two novels not only depict the magnificence of the overall history,but also the personal life experience in the folds of the great history. On the ideological level,Xu Zechen deeply considered the relationship between archaeology,history and literature and presented the rich emotional connection between historical objects and contemporary people in his novel,showing the sentimental orientation of history. On the level of realistic concern in literature,they all strive to overcome the loneliness of human beings in the real society by writing our history and calling out an imaginary community of destiny in the literary world.
