胡适翻译《缝衣歌》考辨

A Textual Research on Hu Shi’s Translation of The Song of the Shirt

钩稽史料,比较胡适和马君武《缝衣歌》译本及《缝衣歌》英文原诗的异同,分析了胡适《缝衣歌》译本的五个特征:更换字词;句子顺序调整;译文前后措词不一;一些原意都未翻译;译文有明显的个人痕迹。认为这些特征一致指向胡适《缝衣歌》译本是在马君武《缝衣歌》译本上的编辑式润色和修改;在宏观上对胡适"窜易"《缝衣歌》的动机和原因作了检视,归纳胡适《缝衣歌》的本质特征为转载+窜易,作出胡适的《缝衣歌》并非"未译",亦非"重译"的结论。

On the basis of examining the historical materials, the similarities and differences between Hu Shi and Ma Junwu s translations and the original English poems of The Song of the Shirt are compared.It analyzes the five features of Hu Shi s translation:the change of a word;the adjustment and rearrangement of a sentence;the different diction of the same word;the identical untranslated original meaning;the personal traces in his version.It is believed that these features are consistently directed at Hu Shi s translation, which is an edited touch and modification on Ma Junwu s.It examines the motives and causes of Hu Shi s "modify" from a macroscopic perspective, and concludes that the essential feature of Hu Shi s translation is reprinting+modifying, which is neither "untranslated" nor "retranslated".
