林译小说口译者林驺考

Study on Lin Zou,an Interpreter of the Novels Translated by Lin Shu

林驺是林译小说《兴登堡成败鉴》的口译者。林驺早年毕业于福州船政学堂,后留学比利时。他精通法文,20世纪初曾在多国驻外使馆工作。离开外交部后,林驺到交通部任职。林驺和林纾合作翻译《兴登堡成败鉴》,是在他任职交通部期间。20世纪30年代,林驺客居上海,和复旦大学创始人、天主教神父马相伯过从甚密,并成为天主教徒,为天主教报刊撰写文章。林驺还擅长作画,目前拍卖市场不时有他的字画出现。

Lin Zou is the interpreter of the novel Hindenburg translated by Lin Shu.Lin Zou graduated from Fuzhou Shipping School in his early years and then studied in Belgium.He was proficient in French and had been working in many embassies abroad in the early 20th century.After leaving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,Lin Zou held a post in the Ministry of Communication,during which time Lin Zou and Lin Shu co-translated the Novel Hindenburg.In the 1930s,Lin Zou lived in Shanghai,and had a close relationship with the founder of Fudan University,the Catholic priest Ma Xiangbo,and then became a Catholic himself,writing articles for the Catholic newspapers.Lin Zou also had a gift in painting.Till now,his paintings still appears in the auction market from time to time.
