摘要
教材是ESP(特殊用途英语)教学的重要工具。然而,很多ESP教材与实际工作中对语言能力的要求之间存在错位。为了认识并修正这种错位,使教材更符合学生未来的就业环境,更好地培养学生的英语语言能力和沟通交流能力,教师在选择和使用ESP教材时应该进行科学有效的评价。酒店业是对外交流最频繁的行业之一,本文以酒店英语为例,探讨了对ESP教材评价的三个步骤:数据收集、教材评价、教材补充,旨在探索ESP教材评价的有效方法,提高ESP教学质量。
A course book is an important tool for ESP teaching. However, there is a mismatch between ESP course books and actual language demands in the workplace. In order to recognize and rectify the mismatch and to make the course books be more in line with students' future employment environment, teachers should make scientific and effective evaluations on course books to better cultivate students' English language ability and communication skills. The hotel industry is one of the industries with the most frequent external exchanges. Taking Hotel English as an example, the paper discusses three steps of ESP course book evaluation: data collection, course book evaluation and supplement, in order to explore the effective methods of ESP course book evaluation and improve ESP teaching quality.
