This article analyzes the rich local chronicles of Hunan minority areas before the founding of the People’s Republic of China, systematically combing the development of the ancient local chronicles of Hunan minority in this period, grasps the distinctive features of its “national character”, reveals its unique compiling features, and displays the value of its contents which is like the encyclopedic ethnic profile, complex and detailed history of ethnic relations and rich treasure - house of arts and literature, to provide original materials for strengthening the protection of minority cultures and promoting minority cultures and arts.
