“Courtesy”and “Principle” are two important design thoughts and ideas that influence ancient Chinese creation, but they are contradictory in nature. By analyzing the connection and difference between “Courtesy” and “Principle”, this paper explores the ancient daily - use ceramics design thought that perfectly integrates the ideas of “ruling by courtesy”and “creating by principle”.
