Mohist Theory of Exaltation of the Virtuous and Its Measures for the Implementation

尚贤是墨家的十大主张之一,墨家十分重视人才在国家治理中的作用。墨家尚贤的根本特点就是任人唯贤,即只以才德作为衡量人才的标准。墨家主张应该从待遇到地位上都充分重视人才的作用,在今天依然有重要意义和价值。

Mohist theory of exaltation of the virtuous is one of the “10-theories” of Mohist thought. Mohism did attach much weight the usage of personnel in state governance. This paper thinks that the basic characteristic of Mohist theory of exaltation of the virtuous is to appoint people on their merit, that is to say, only if the intelligence and virtue is the basic standard of measuring talents through analyzing the sages’ importance and necessity to a country in Mohism. It has the important significance meaning and value that Mohism thinks that a county must sufficiently pay attention to the usage of sage regardless of treatment or status.
