Theoretical Construction and Practical Innovation of the Great Power Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics

党的十八大以来,中央高度重视我国外事工作,强化中国特色大国外交理念,提出了一系列中国外交新思路,形成了具有鲜明特色的习近平新时代中国特色社会主义外交思想体系。该体系特色鲜明、内涵丰富、理论创新,体现出中国外交独特的包容共享的新型国际关系理念以及在维护民族国家利益基础上与世界各国合作共贏的发展观、邻里观、安全观、秩序观、全球治理观。在外交实践中,党对外事工作集中统一领导、对外交往力度加大且外交实践创新,使中国大国外交理念的传播更富有亲和力和感染力,为“一带一路”倡议的实施,也为构建人类命运共同体搭桥铺路。在2019年的外交舞台上,中国仍面临诸多挑战,推进中国特色大国外交、构建新型国际关系,任重道远。

Since the Eighteenth National Congress of the CPC, the central government has attached great importance to China’s foreign affairs, strengthened the concept of great power diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, put forward a series of new ideas on Chinese diplomacy, and formed a distinctive diplomatic thinking system under the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The system has distinct features, rich connotations and theoretical innovations, reflecting the unique concept of inclusive and shared international relations in China’s diplomacy, as well as the win-win concept of development,neighborhood, security, order and global governance on the basis of safeguarding national interests. In the diplomatic practices, the Party leads the foreign affairs work in a centralized and unified manner, the foreign exchanges have expanded, and the diplomatic practices have been innovated, so that the publicity of China’s idea of great power diplomacy is more approachable and appealing.It also paves the way for the implementation of the "Belt and Road" initiative and for the building of the human community with shared destiny. In the diplomatic arena of 2019, China still faces many challenges. It has a long way to go to promote the great power diplomacy with Chinese characteristics and to build a new type of international relations.
