Objective: To evaluate and compare the application value of two different balloon catheters in transvaginal real-time three-dimensional hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography(3D HyCoSy). Methods: One hundred and eighty-six infertile patients were randomly divided into two groups,i.e.,uterine fluid tube group and Foley s double-lumen tube group. The patients underwent transvaginal ultrasound examination first to assess the status of uterus and ovaries, and then the 3D HyCoSy was conducted after uterine catheterization. Success rate, adverse reactions and results of pain VAS score were compared between the two groups. Results: 3D HyCoSy was performed successfully in the two groups. There was no significant difference in age and fallopian tube patency between the two groups. The success rate of catheter insertion was 100%(92/92) in Foley s double-lumen group, which was higher than that of uterine tube group 95.74%(90/94). The difference between the two groups was statistically significant( P <0.05). In Foley s double-lumen group, patients of severe pain were fewer than those in the uterine tube group. Conclusion: Compared with the uterine tube group, the Foley s dual-lumen tube has a high success rate of 3D HyCoSy uterine catheterization, and patients have better pain tolerance.
