With the social transformation in the pastoral areas, the Mongolian herdsmen have shifted from nomadism to settlement, and they are suitable for the living forms of traditional production and lifestyle. The Mongolian yurts have also gradually transformed into residential brick and mortar houses, resulting in a sense of cultural identity and belonging. This study introduces the "rooted theory" to carry out a qualitative analysis of the needs of the Mongolian herdsmen living in order to build a theoretical model of residential needs for the "unconscious"of the animal husbandry and democracy. Through semi-structured interviews with Mongolian herdsmen and Mongolian scholars, the collected data has been coded and analyzed, and a theoretical model of Mongolian dwelling needs constructed as a necessary basis and theoretical basis for the inheritance of modern dwellings.
