交通基础设施改善与服务业发展——基于第六次铁路大提速的证据

Transportation Infrastructure Improvement and Service Industry Development——Based on the Evidence of the Sixth Railway Speed Increase

基础设施的扩能投资可能会重塑经济活动。利用2007年第六次铁路大提速这一项准自然实验,采用面板数据结合双重差分的思想对第六次铁路大提速给城市服务业发展带来的影响进行探究。研究结果表明:此次提速中受益的城市在服务业发展上相对领先于未受益的城市,稳健性检验结果表明该结论依然显著成立。应进一步加大我国交通基础设施比较薄弱的西部地区的投资力度,以创造良好的发展基础,促进服务业发展。

Infrastructure investment could reshape economic activity.Based on the quasi-natural experiment of the sixth railway speed increase in 2007,the impact of the sixth railway speed increase on the development of urban service industry was explored by using panel data and the idea of DID.The results show that the cities benefiting from this acceleration are relatively ahead of the cities not benefiting in the development of service industry,and the robustness test results show that this conclusion is still significant.In order to create a good foundation for the development of the service industry and promote the development of the service industry,more investment should be made in the construction of the transportation infrastructure in China,especially in the western regions where the transportation infrastructure is relatively weak.
