摘要
利用言语变体实验技术测试某民航院校大学管制专业二年级学生共165位学生对13种英语口音变体的辨识能力和语言态度,结果显示在辨识能力方面,中国学生对东北腔英语的熟悉程度最高。在语言态度方面,被试对中国东北腔口音的认同度却很低。被试语言能力和语言态度之间的不一致暴露出中国高校传统的本族语语音教学模式的局限性。本文以《新标准大学英语视听说》为例实行英语语音多元化教学:对于英式发音和美式发音,要求学生系统掌握两者的差异,确保自己被人听懂;对于典型的英语口音变体则运用通用语共核理论指导语音教学,要求学生掌握属于通用语核心范畴的语音现象,确保自己能听懂别人。
Applying the verbal-guise experiment technique on 165 sophomore air traffic controller students at a flight college to test their ability in identifying and attitudes towards 13 English accents varieties.Results show that Chinese students exhibit the highest level of familiarity as regards to Chinese English characterized with northeastern Mandarin accent.Attitude wise,this accent nonetheless enjoys the lowest degree of acceptability.The inconsistency between subjects’ language abilities and attitudes exposes the limitations of the traditional exonerative native-speaker(NS)models prevalent in higher education institutions of China.This study takes the example of New Standard College English Listening and speaking to probe into diversified teaching models,i.e.a systematic teaching of NS models which enable students to discriminate between RP and GA and to ensure intelligibility of their own spoken English.As regards to non-native varieties of English,the Lingua Franca Core(LFC)theories were put into application to inform students of the LFC features so as to ascertain comprehensibility of others’ spoken English.
