The radical of the character Kun(■)in Liangchen of Tsinghua(清华)bamboo slips is same as the character Kun(■)in oracle-bone inscriptions. The latter should be written as Kun(■)and is the original writing of Kun(昆)which means insect. The former should be written as Kun(■)and is a newly-emerging pictophmetic character which adds the phonetic sign Jin(斤)to the latter.Guwen Kun(昆)of the Warring States characters is a variant of Kun(■)in oracle-bone inscriptions.
