This paper traces Bernard Rudofsky's cognitive evolution on vernacular architecture in the con text of cultural transformation to better understand the profound meanings of the exhibition and the book.Through investigations on his relationship with academic circles in Vienna,his unique residential theories and practices,and starting point of his persistent pursuit of the psychological pleasure and healthy life,the paper reasons his cognitive transformation on the value of vernacular architecture.
