The May 4th Movement and Modern Practice of Chinese Painting

中国绘画的现代性追求是伴随“五四”新文化运动开始的,“五四”前后各种研究中西绘画的社团纷纷成立,西方美术教育被引入并催生了诸多美术专科学校的创办,促进了西画在我国的启蒙和发展。在强调以艺术参与社会改造的功用目标下,中西绘画并行发展,踏上了中国绘画的现代实践之路。

The pursuit of modernity of Chinese painting began with the May 4th New Culture Movement.Various societies for the study of Chinese and Western painting were established around the May 4th Movement.Western art education was introduced and gave birth to many art schools,which promoted the enlightenment and development of Western painting in China.Under the goal of emphasizing the function of artistic participation in social transformation,Chinese and Western painting developed simultaneously and embarked on the road of modern practice of Chinese painting.
