In The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Zhu Ge Liang, the mastermind denounced Wang Lang, a traitor of the Han Dynasty at the front line of war so furiously that he could not stand the humiliation and died of a heart attack. It is a reflection of the imperial discipline and irrational features of political power in the novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties. This anti-intellectual discipline is a transformation of the folk ideology represented by the novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties in the premodernization stage of China. It shows that the existence of authoritarian imperial power lacks the rationality of jurisprudence and logic, which cannot effectively cope with the challenges brought about by the lack of logic. The fragile essence of power can only be covered up by its political suppression and anti-ntellectual moral admonishment.
