The history of contemporary Chinese private education is the magnificent history of education practice with attention from all over the world. Going through the successive stages such as the stage of transforming and taking over(1949-1952), the stage of rapid recovering(1978-1991), the stage of rapid development(1992-1996), the stage of rule regulation(1997-2002), and the stage of legal regulation(since 2003-), Chinese private education has been developing and expanding itself while playing more and more important role for the reform and innovation of Chinese education system, rejuvenation of economy, and cultivation of talented people etc. We should explore the process of beginning, development and evolution of private education, digging out the rich connotation of private education thoughts in previous generation, summarize the successful experiences and failure lessons of predecessors when getting to know the phenomenon of private education and guiding the practice of private education, and reveal the objective rule for the origin and development of private education.
