中篇小说《红粉》是苏童新历史主义小说的代表作之一,作者将秋仪、小萼两位女性角色置于同一生存环境与时代背景中,并使二人与同一男性——老浦产生感情纠葛。通过展现她们的价值选择以及她们对待亲情、友情、爱情的态度,作者塑造出两位丰满立体、个性十足的女性人物形象。不难发现,秋仪与小萼的性格特征贯穿作品始终,并未因“妓女改造”这一历史转折产生明显变化。秋仪身为妓女,却于事事处处闪烁着人性光辉,这在一定程度上表现出作者对其肯定与怜悯的情感倾向。

A medium-length novel Women is one of the representative works of Su Tong's new historicism novels in which he places two female characters,Qiu Yi and Xiao E in the same living environment and time background,and causes them to have emotional entanglement with the same man,Lao Pu.By showing their value choices and their attitudes towards family,friendship and love,the author portrays two wellrounded female characters with full personality.It is not difficult to find that the personality characteristics of Qiu Yi and Xiao E run through the work all the time,and have not changed significantly because of the historical turning point of the transformation of prostitutes.As a prostitute,Qiu Yi shines with the brilliance of human nature everywhere,which shows the author's emotional tendency of affirmation and compassion to Qiu Yi.
