英语合译法转译汉语小句策略探析

Approach of combination applied in translating Chinese short sentences into English

针对汉语重“意合”、短句较多,英语重“形合”、长句见长的特点,探析了借助英语连接词、从句、分词、介词、不定式、无动词分句等,把汉语流水小句合译成得体英语长句的策略,以期为汉英互译者提供帮助,使其译出更为目标语读者接受的译文。

Given that the Chinese language being characteristic of "parataxis" and short sentences while English "hypotaxis" and long sentences,this paper discusses how to integrate prevailing short sentences in Chinese into typical long sentences in English by means of English conjunctions,clauses,participles,prepositions,infinitives and verbless clauses.Its purpose is to help translators conduct their work,either in Chinese-English translation or in English-Chinese translation,in the way that is more acceptable to the target language readers.
