Promote All-round Education and Guide English Teaching in Basic Education:Analysis of the 2019 National Matriculation English Test

2019年高考英语试题落实构建德智体美劳全面培养教育体系,依据高考评价体系的总体要求,在选材上以巩固德育、坚守智育的考试内容改革为基础,加强对健康意识、审美情趣、劳动精神的考查和引导。试题命制以英语学科听说读写4项关键能力为重心,突出交际、思辨和学习的学科素养导向。试卷结构和难度设计合理,能够较好地区分不同层次的学生,积极引导中学教学,助力发展素质教育。

The 2019 National Matriculation English Test(NMET)implements the all-round education system which emphasizes the development of students’morality, intelligence, athletics, aesthetics and labor. Besides promoting moral education and maintaining intellectual education, as stressed in the test content reform, the wellchosen texts in 2019 NMET intend to assess and guide students’awareness of health, aesthetic taste and love of labor, in accordance with the general requirements of the Gaokao Assessment Framework. The 2019 NMET focuses on the key competences in language learning - listening, speaking, reading and writing - and highlights the subject literacy of interpersonal communication skills, critical thinking skills and learning ability. The test has an appropriate structure and level of difficulty, which helps to distinguish students of different levels of language ability, so as to guide English teaching in middle school and promote quality-oriented education.
