A Review of “2018 Sino-European States International Law of the Sea Symposium:Promoting International Maritime Cooperation”

2018年11月28日,由厦门大学南海研究院和葡萄牙新里斯本大学合作筹办的"2018中欧国际海洋法学术研讨会"在葡萄牙里斯本顺利举行。本次会议主要围绕航行和海上法治、国家管辖外区域、水下文化遗产和海洋环境保护等4个议题进行交流和探讨。会议通过对以上问题的讨论,加强了中欧在国际海洋合作方面的理解。与此同时,会议还探讨了中欧在相关领域开展合作的可能性,以期实现互惠共赢的目的。

The "2018 Sino-European States International Law of the Sea Symposium: Promoting International Maritime Cooperation," which was organized by Xiamen University South China Sea Institute and New University of Lisbon, was held in Lisbon on 28 November 2018. The participants from China and Europe chiefly discussed the following four topics:(a) navigation and the rule of law at sea,(b) areas beyond national jurisdiction,(c) underwater cultural heritage, and (d) protection and preservation of marine environment. Through the discussion of the topics above, the symposium enhanced both sides' understanding of international maritime cooperation. Additionally, the participants also debated the possibility of cooperation between the two sides in relevant fields, which would help achieve the goal of mutual benefit and win-win results.
