摘要
The social transformation of Western Europe has been a heated topic in world history studies.Recent works of this kind have mainly been economy-oriented,with insufficient attention to its political,cultural and social dimensions.Studies on the Evolution of Medieval Social Hierarchy in Western Europe,a new publication by Prof.Wang Yaping,however,serves as an in-depth investigation into the social dimension in this regard.Within the framework of Marxist outlook on historical materialism,the book adopts a structural approach and makes a static qualitative analysis of Western feudal society as well as a dynamic examination of the country,towns,secular society and church within this period.
