《老残游记》作为清末四大谴责小说之一,在国内外广受好评,但深究其文本内涵,却不是“谴责”一词可以简单囊括的。以往学者往往就小说的政治性、意向隐喻以及叙述视角等方面进行研究,却对文本所呈现出的区域饮食文化特点及其所传达出的社会内涵等方面关注较少,而在这背后蕴含的,则是长期以来不同地域的人在长期生活中约定俗成的社会文化内涵和风俗多样性的呈现。

As one of the four major condemnation novels in the late Qing Dynasty,The Travels of Lao Ts'an has been well received at home and abroad,but the content of the text is not completely condemned.In the past,scholars often studied the political,intentional metaphor and narrative perspective of the novel,but paid little attention to the characteristics of the regional food culture and the social connotation conveyed by the text.It is a long-standing representation of the social and cultural connotations and customs of people in different regions in the long-term life.
