Xiong Shili took books as the friends and teachers,which formed his unique view of reading during the special time of the Republic of China.He had profound attainments in Buddhism and Confucian classics,and was well-versed in both Chinese and Western cultures.He was good at thinking in reading and achieved pass through doubt.In the pursuit of reading,he combined the cognition and deeds into a whole,and paid attention to the concern for reality.Xiong Shili's view of reading not only laid down his academic achievements and edified the pursuit of ideal,but also affected the reading thinking of his own students and later scholars.7refs.
