广义的湘北抗战其内涵包括发生在湘北地区的军事抗战、政治抗战、经济抗战和文化抗战,其中军事抗战是核心和重点。狭义的湘北抗战专指发生在湘北地区的军事抗战,以国民党正面战场的作战为主体,还包括共产党领导的游击战争和民间力量的零星杀敌。“第一次长沙会战”应该称为“湘北会战”,它与长沙会战一样,是抗战相持阶段的重要会战。湘北会战和长沙会战中的三次湘北战役一起构成湘北抗战的主体部分。构建湘北抗战的概念框架和话语体系,是还历史本来面目、推进湘北抗战研究、彰显湘北抗战历史地位的需要,是弘扬湘北抗战精神,有效利用、开发抗战文化资源,服务地方经济社会发展的需要。

The broad sense of Anti-Japanese War in Northern Hunan includes resistances of military,politics,economy and culture in the area of northern Hunan,which emphasis is military resistance.The narrow sense of Anti-Japanese War in Northern Hunan refers to the war of military resistance in the area of Northern Hunan,with the main body of the battles on the front battlefield led by the Kuomintang,the guerrilla warfare led by the Communist Party of China and the sporadic killing of enemies by the civilian forces.The First Changsha Decisive Battle should be called the Decisive Battle of Northern Hunan,which like Changsha Decisive Battle,is an important decisive battle in the stage of the stalemate of Anti-Japanese War.The Decisive Battle in Northern Hunan and the three Battles in Northern Hunan area of Changsha Decisive Battle constitute the main part of the Anti-Japanese War in Northern Hunan.To construct the conceptual framework and discourse system of Anti-Japanese War in Northern Hunan is to return to history as it is.It can promote the study of the war of Anti-Japanese War in Northern Hunan,and highlight the historical status of the Anti-Japanese War in Northern Hunan.It is the need of carrying forward the spirit of the Anti-Japanese War in Northern Hunan,effectively utilizing and developing the cultural resources of Anti-Japanese War,and the need of serving the development of local economy and society.
