The Negative Effects of Academic Misconduct Literature Detection System and Reflections: Take the Application of Academic Journals in Universities as An Example

学术不端文献检测系统具有强大的文字查重优势,但功能上有较多局限,不能将查重结果作为判定抄袭等学术不端问题的绝对依据。然而在实践中,高校对学生的毕业论文、学术期刊对作者论文的学术不端检测都存在依赖查重系统现象,并产生了查重系统遭遇攻克的尴尬、干扰正常的学术研究活动、挫伤作者的积极性、加重学术不端风气等的负效应,这些负效应是由相关管理部门的工具理性思维及忽视过程治理导致的。

Academic misconduct literature detection system is a powerful software, but there are some limitations which decides that the results of the checking system cannot be used as a sole basis for making the judgment whether an author is plagiarizing or not. But in practice, universities rely on the detection system to make decisions no matter they are academic papers contributed to academic journals or students' graduation theses. The reliance not only leads to the embarrassed situation of the detection system itself being conquered but also interrupts normal academic research, dampens the authors' enthusiasm and aggravates the academic misconducts. These negative effects are caused by the instrumental rationality and the neglect of the relevant administrative departments in universities.
