Influencing Factors in English Majors’ Acquisition of Senses of English Prepositions

英语专业学生英语介词义项的习得受诸多因素影响。空间义项的习得主要受其在语义网络中的突显度和标示相近空间构型的介词的影响;非空间义项的习得主要受其与原型义项间象似性的可感知度和学生对介词功能因素辨识能力的影响。而两类义项习得的共同影响因素为汉英共现结构中介词的匹配度、义项的教学顺序和使用频率,以及不同介词的相同义项在自然使用中的出现频次。

Influencing factors in English majors' acquisition of senses of English prepositions are varied.Major factors influencing the acquisition of spatial senses are their prominence in the semantic network and interference from prepositions denoting a similar spatial configuration,while major factors influencing the acquisition of non-spatial senses are the perceptibility of the iconicity between the non-spatial sense and the primary sense and the learners' ability to recognize the functional elements of prepositions.Major factors affecting the acquisition of both spatial and non-spatial senses are the degree of match between the prepositions in Chinese and English co-occurring structures,the teaching sequence and frequency of use of a certain sense,and the frequency of identical senses of different prepositions in natural use.
