中国传统思想中蕴含着"天人合一"的宇宙观,因此节奏化、生命化的空间意识和虚灵的空间美感融贯于传统文化艺术的诸多方面,中国画、中国书法、古典诗词皆通过各自的形式语言和审美特征传递着中国艺术特有的空间美感。空间意识也是宗白华探寻中国传统文化内核和艺术精神的重要切入点,并在此基础上构建起其兼具民族特色和时代精神的美学思想体系。
