英汉语言中的性别歧视——《说文解字》视角下的文化观照

Gender Discrimination Reflected in English and Chinese Language

语言是文化的载体,反映了人们的社会观念和社会习俗,承载着大量的社会文化信息。虽然英汉两种语言隶属于不同的语系,在词法和句法等方面规则迥异,但是在语言的使用过程中却不谋而合地体现了性别歧视这一现象。同时,语言又是社会文化的一面镜子,英汉两种语言中的性别歧视归根结底是由于语言所在的社会文化中也存在着根深蒂固的歧视观念。

Language is the carrier of culture, reflecting people’s social concepts and customs and carrying a large amount of social and cultural information. Although English and Chinese belong to different language families and there are differences in lexicon and syntax between the two languages, the phenomenon of sexism is reflected in the process of language use. At the same time, language is also a mirror of social culture. In the final analysis, gender discrimination in English and Chinese is due to the deep-rooted discriminatory ideas in the social culture.
