Textual Research on the Origin and Development of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Instruments

针灸器械从《黄帝内经》之长针、火泻灸法、《伤寒论》温针灸、《肘后备急方》瓦甑灸法、《肘后备急方》隔物灸、《千金翼方》苇管灸、《寿域神方》按摩灸、核桃壳灸,到梅花针灸学派第六代传人周楣声"改革灸具,创新灸法",发明了喷灸仪、灸架、点灸笔等20余项温灸器,针灸器械已经取得长足发展,但仍然存在着诸多问题:重针轻灸,重科研轻临床,重实验轻应用,医院内针灸与民间针灸水平参差不齐,灸法操作流程不合理,艾叶等原材料浪费严重、利用度有待提高。艾灸器械和方法仍然是制约灸法发展的主要环节,希望有更多的学者能够重视针灸器械,特别是灸具的研究创新。

Acupuncture and moxibustion instruments ranged from long needle,fire-reducing moxibustion in Huangdi’ s Canon of Medicine,warm moxibustion in Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases,arkshell moxibustion and sandwiched moxibustion in Emergency Formulas to Keep Up One’s Sleeve,reed tube moxibustion in Supplement to ’Important Formulas Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces,massage moxibustion and walnut shell moxibustion in Shouyu Shenfang,to moxibustion apparatus,moxibustion frame and point moxibustion pen invented by Zhou Mei-sheng,the sixth-generation representative of the plum blossom School of acupuncture and moxibustion,who advocates reforming moxibustion tools and innovating moxibustion method. There are more than 20 warm moxibustion devices. However,there are still many problems: attaching more importance to acupuncture rather than moxibustion,attaching more importance to scientific research rather than clinical practice,attaching more importance to experiment rather than application,uneven level of acupuncture and moxibustion in hospitals and folk acupuncture,unreasonable operation process of moxibustion,the waste of raw materials of moxibustion leaves,the utilization of moxibustion leaves which needs to be improved. The above problems,especially moxibustion,are particularly serious. Moxibustion instruments and methods are still the main factors restricting the development of moxibustion. It is hoped that more scholars will pay attention to the research and innovation of acupuncture and moxibustion instruments,especially moxibustion tools.
