Objective To investigate the number and function of endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs) in patients with grade 3 hypertensive which was well controlled before. Methods 13 inpatients with grade 3 hypertension and grade 1 and 2 hypertension which were well controlled before were enrolled in this study, and 20 healthy persons were recruited as control group. The number of EPCs cultured in vitro was detected by Dil-ac-LDL and Lectin fluorescence labeling, and the function of EPCs(proliferation and migration) were analyzed by CCK8 and Transwell chambers. Results Compared with the control group, the number and function(migration, proliferation) of EPCs in hypertensive inpatients were significantly lower( P <0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the number and function of EPCs between grade 1-2 hypertension patients and grade 3 hypertension patients( P >0.05). Conclusion The function and number of EPCs can be preserved after long-term baseline blood pressure well controlled in patients with grade 3 hypertension.
