A Century of the Study of Chinese Stylistics

中国古代文体学研究的百年之路,是从衰落到复兴的过程,但本质则是从中国传统文体学向现代意义、现代形态的中国文体学转型的过程。此过程有两个重要节点:新文化运动与改革开放。百年前,外来文化与新文化在解构中国传统文体学的过程中又有所建构,而近几十年的中国文体学研究则是在世界文学大格局中更高层次地回归传统。这也是传统中国学术在现代中国命运的一个缩影。百年来的中国文体学研究,担负着“承继先哲将坠之业”与“开拓学术之区宇”的双重使命。

In the last hundred years, the study of classical Chinese stylistics has undergone a process from decline to revival, which is essentially a transformation from traditional Chinese stylistics to modern Chinese stylistics. The New Culture Movement and the practice of Reform and Opening up have constituted two significant turning points in this process. In the past century, foreign cultures and the new culture have made contribution to reconstruction while deconstructing traditional Chinese stylistics. In recent decades, the study of Chinese stylistics has returned to tradition at a higher level in the grand structure of world literature. This also reflects the fortune of traditional Chinese academic studies in modern China. The study of Chinese stylistics in the last century has borne the task of “continuing the endangering enterprise of predecessors” and that of “exploring new academic spheres” at the same time.
