五四运动是一场彻底地、不妥协地反对帝国主义和封建主义的革命和思想解放运动,标志着中国革命由旧民主主义革命发展到新民主主义革命阶段,促进了马克思主义在中国广泛传播和与中国工人运动相结合,从思想上和干部上为中国共产党的成立做了准备。在运动中产生的五四精神,传承了中华民族优秀文化,汲取了马克思主义科学思想,与中国共产党建党精神、建军精神和建立新中国精神有着极为紧密的关系,对中国共产党革命精神谱系的孕育、形成和发展产生了重要的作用。

the May 4th Movement is the movement of revolution and thought liberation, which thoroughly and uncompromisingly opposed to imperialism and feudalism, marking the development stage from the old democratic revolution of China to the new democratic revolution and promoting the spread of Marxism in China and combination with the Chinese workers’ movement. It prepared for the establishment of the Communist Party of China from the theory and the cadres. The May 4th spirit generated in the movement inherits the excellent culture of the Chinese nation and absorbs Marxist scientific thought. It is closely related to the CPC’s building spirit, army building spirit and new China building spirit, and plays an important role in the breeding, formation and development of the CPC’s revolutionary spiritual spectrum.
