The Cultivation of Students’ Cultural Awareness in English Teaching: The Case Study of "Advanced English" Edited by Zhang Hanxi

《高级英语》是张汉熙教授主编的英语专业高年级经典教材,其编选的课文蕴涵着丰富的文化和背景知识。在教学实践中,应将语言与文化相结合,注重培养学生的文化意识,使其具有国际视野。本文以该教材的第三版为例,探寻文化内涵,解读文化,结合实例剖析文化意识与语言学习的关系,从而深入探讨英语教学中对学生文化意识的培养,以期对英语教学有所帮助。

"Advanced English" is a set of classic textbooks for senior English majors edited by Professor Zhang Hanxi.The selected texts contain the rich cultural and background knowledge.In the teaching practice,language and culture should be combined with each other so as to cultivate students' cultural awareness and help them have the international perspective.This essay aims at exploring the cultural connotation,interpreting culture and illustrating the relationship between cultural awareness and language learning through the case study of the third edition of "Advanced English",which cultivates students' cultural awareness and facilitates the English teaching.
